The Cooper CAPT340 (Eaton CAPT340 / MAPT850) is a high-performance intelligent addressable photo-thermal sensor designed by Cooper (Eaton) for commercial, industrial, and institutional fire safety networks. By combining an optical light scattering chamber with an electronic thermistor heat sensor within a low-profile housing, the device evaluates both smoke concentration and thermal activity. This multi-criteria approach allows rapid detection of fast-flaming fires while retaining high sensitivity to slow-smoldering fires and significantly reducing nuisance false alarms. Operating on Cooper’s high-speed addressable digital loop protocol, the unit features automatic soft addressing (eliminating mechanical DIP switches or rotary dials), an integrated short-circuit loop isolator, 360-degree light-pipe LED visibility, automatic chamber drift compensation, and full LPCB EN 54 certification.
