Potter PAD300-HD Heat Detector
The Potter PAD300-HD is an addressable, ultra-low-profile thermal sensor running on the Potter Addressable Device (PAD) loop protocol. It provides flexible, software-selectable configurations for both 135ºF to 185ºF fixed temperature thresholds and 15ºF per minute rate-of-rise monitoring, managed via onboard mechanical DIP switches

Description
The Potter PAD300-HD addressable thermal sensor delivers reliable life-safety detection in challenging environments where dust, steam, or cooking exhaust render traditional smoke detectors impractical. Ideal for mechanical rooms, commercial kitchens, laundries, and unheated storage docks, the device utilizes a precision electronic thermistor circuit to read real-time ambient temperature changes. System engineers can configure the device via panel software to operate as a fixed-temperature trigger, a rapid rate-of-rise sensor, or a combination of both. It integrates directly onto standard 2-wire Signaling Line Circuits (SLC) using the digital PAD protocol, flashing its localized multi-state status LED to indicate regular control panel polling. Housed in a clean, high-impact thermoplastic shell, the detector features an ultra-low-profile frame that requires less than 1.5 inches of ceiling headroom, twisting securely onto any standard PAD300 series active mounting base.
Features
- Dual-Mode Thermal Sensing: Provides versatile protection by letting installers configure the unit as a fixed-temperature sensor, a rate-of-rise sensor, or a combination of both.
- Tool-Free Field Addressing: Employs a physical bank of DIP switches on the rear of the module, allowing technicians to assign loop addresses (1–127) instantly without proprietary handheld programmers.
- Low-Profile Aesthetic: Features a compact, modern design that sits tight against the ceiling surface when installed into a matching PAD300-4DB or PAD300-6DB detector base.
- Magnetic Testing Compatibility: Outfitted with an internal magnetic reed switch, allowing rapid, non-destructive function testing on-site using a basic external magnet.
- Intelligent SLC Polling: Communicates digitally over a proprietary PAD protocol loop, boasting a total polling cycle speed under 5 seconds to exceed standard emergency response criteria.
- Extended Service Lifespan: Constructed from rugged, heat-resistant plastic and backed by a comprehensive manufacturer 5-year warranty for lasting infrastructure security.
