The Simplex 4098-9714 is an analogue addressable photoelectric smoke sensor engineered for installation in commercial, institutional, and industrial fire alarm networks. Operating on the light-scattering principle with an internal pulsed LED and silicon photodiode receiver, the sensor continually measures smoke levels and digitally transmits raw analog data back to the panel via two-wire IDNet or MAPNET II communication loops. The control panel processes this analog data to provide automatic environmental drift compensation, programmable sensitivity selection (0.2% to 3.7% per foot obscuration), once-per-minute self-calibration checks, and peak value logging. Housed in a white, flame-retardant louvered enclosure designed to optimize airflow, the plug-in head mounts into standard Simplex 4098-series bases or specialized in-duct housings.
